The Piety museum is in Fiumei Road Cemetery. This graveyard is a national memorial because there resting the most rankfull Hungarian characters. This cemetery is one of the largest green areas of Budapest, and it works as an outdoor museum as well owing to the extraordinary sepulchers.

At 16.00: Delivery ceremony of the Apponyi-carriage

This mourning carriage followed the grief-traditions of the rulers. The well-decorated carriage was one of the largest in it’s age, even had an unique symbolism. It functioned by the mourning ceremony of most respected Hungarian politicians between 1933 and 1945. The Carriage will be exhibited for the first time.

 

The permanent-exhibition of Piety Museum is closed for renovation, the temporary exhibition of Kamill Major can be visited by the end of August.

At 19.30: Opening ceremony of „MARAD-HATÁS” temporary exhibition of Kamill Major, painter-graphic.The artist emigrated to Paris in the ’70s. He started photographing at the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris. He made photos from the tombstones on which the deceased’s portraits were visible, closed in medallions. After a long time he returned to these tombs for documenting the passing time on the faded portraits. The main topic of his art is the passing, the eternety and the memory. The Hungarian Trombone Band will be playing on the ceremony.

At 21.00: Light painting with music – Concert of the Virtuoses

The young stars of the Virtuoses will give a concert by one of the most beautiful buildings in the graveyard. The music will be connected with special effects of the artistical light painting to give an amazing, unforgettable sight and experience as well, for all.
